| Ring Binder Capacities To determine the size of a binder, DO NOT measure the outside of the binder. Binders are always constructed to extend 1/4" above and 1/4" below the binding edge of the sheet (Binding side plus 1/2"). Binders are always constructed to extend 1/2" in front of the sheet to allow for the use of tabbed index dividers (sheet width plus 1/2"). ALWAYS SPECIFY sheet size, binding size ___x width ____x thickness of contents. Our responsibility is to provide a binder that will accommodate your requirements. Binders can be made to accommodate almost any sheet size on special order. The standard size sheets for binders are:

Capacity To determine the capacity of a ring or post binder, measure across the inside diameter of the rings or posts. The overall size of the rings must be larger than the stated capacity because the metal mechanism must go around the contents. The standard size ring capacities are shown below, followed by a chart with the exact inside dimensions. (Slight variations depending on manufacturer of metal).
